Hello!
Welcome to Tutor Outside-the-Box.
I offer tutoring for children aged 5 to 16 who are struggling to thrive in their usual learning environment. I tutor from my home, 3 miles north of Cambridge, UK (on the no.9 bus route)
I am a mother of two teens, both home educated, though one is now in Further Education, working hard and loving it. During my parenthood journey, I have learned many things about what inspires a child to learn, and what can block that learning. I feel strongly that all children intrinsically want to learn, but they are not all designed to learn the same things in the same way as each other.
As well as championing my own children's education for the past 11 years, I have also successfully taught science subjects in small groups of 4 to 12 participants. I have a BSc in applied biochemistry, RGN qualification and 10 years experience in nursing. I am also an artist, dress maker, beekeeper, gardener, and above all, lifelong learner.
